This bull Moose photograph was captured late evening along the park road in Denali National Park, Alaska. With my camera, I rarely shoot anything above 400 ISO to maintain image quality. The late low light circumstances and excellent opportunity dictated doing something different. Bracketed numerous ISOs as high as 800 to try to obtain an appropriate shutter speed (this was actually shot @ 1/40th of a second) and it proved to be a good decision (9/10). This Moose calf photograph was captured in the Savage River bottom area of Denali National Park in Alaska. A cow and two calves were quickly leaving the area due an approaching Grizzly Bear. In an attempt to leave the Grizzly far behind, the cow crossed the river. Only one calf crossed with her. The cow called for the other several times. Sadly, the poor little fellow above was then abandoned by it's mother (6/09).
