This Moose calf photograph was captured in the Savage River bottom area of Denali National Park in Alaska. A cow and two calves were quickly leaving the area due an approaching Grizzly Bear. In an attempt to leave the Grizzly far behind, the cow crossed the river. Only one calf crossed with her. The cow called for the other several times. Sadly, the poor little fellow above was then abandoned by it's mother (6/09).
