This photograph of a White-tailed Deer doe and fawn was captured in Shenandoah National Park, Virginia. This was one of those magic early mornings. The doe went into the field and greeted the fawn from the hiding spot. After a tongue washing she walked the fawn over to a small pool of water for a drink. I think this was the fawn's first experience with water because it was apprehensive about placing its feet into the pool. Once the fawn discovered things were OK it began running around in the water (6/08).
